About us
Missy Lemoi, proprietor
Missy has been around animals her entire life. She began
riding horses when she was 7 and owned her first horse at
the age of 10. She began riding in horse shows when she was
12 and competed successfully in local and regional Quarter
Horse shows. Throughout her horse show career, Missy trained
all of her horses herself for competition.
She also grew up with two Cocker Spaniels her father used
for hunting. At age 14 she received her first Labrador Retriever
and has owned Labs ever since. After retiring from showing
horses, Missy became intrigued with training Labs for obedience
and hunt test competitions and took her first trained Labrador,
Rufus, to a Companion Dog title, a Master Hunter title and
the 2000 Master National Hunt Test. She also trained a second
Lab, Max, to the Companion Dog level in obedience and a Junior
Hunter title in hunt tests. Max then went on to become her
husband's partner on a canine search and rescue team. She
has since trained her current Lab, Hawkeye, to the Master
Hunter level and successfully completed the Master National
in 2003 and 2004 with him. She also competes in field trials
with both Hawkeye and her young dog, Tex. Hawkeye is Qualified
All Age, and Tex had a successful Derby career as a 1 year
old, winning the last Derby stake in which Missy ran him.
Upon leaving the corporate world in 2003, Missy decided to
combine the teaching degree she had earned in college with
her love for animals and establish a training facility for
dog obedience. Using the experience she has gained training
both horses and dogs for competitions, Missy is now working
at the family homestead where she grew up and applying a common
sense approach to teaching manners to all breeds of dogs.
